chicken fried steak

I'm not sure why, but I'm slightly obsessed with "soul food" these days. I think it might have to do with the cooler weather and seeing menus change from fresh and light summertime fare to homey, filling comfort foods. This chicken fried steak recipe comes from Alton Brown and is topped with milk gravy. It's very rich and must be served with mashed potatoes (I used half Yukon Gold and half sweet potato here) to soak up the excess gravy.
